State Radio Communications lost a 180' foot guide tower in Mitchell on the morning of March 18. The tower had been in service for 12 years and fell due to an anchor failure. This tower provides public safety, radio and weather services. Public safety mobile coverage has been picked up by surrounding towers.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting FM radio services (90.9) were temporarily lost. The SDPB radio services will be back operational on Wednesday March 19, pm.

National Weather Service coverage for those with weather radios will be unavailable until the new tower is installed and operational. The new tower will be installed and operational the week of April 1.
